Hi everybody,

What a crazy couple months. As we all know, we had a couple site outages here and there due to our hosting provider thinking we were getting too much traffic and deciding to, um, curb our usage by shutting down the site. Yeah, not too cool. Not cool that they did that to us, and not cool that we weren’t able to provide our service to our users. After the second time, we knew we couldn’t let it happen a third time.

So now we have our own servers, under our own control. What this means is you can count on us. What this also means is now we can get back to doing what we would have rather been doing all along which is adding more site functionality for everybody. Wheee!

We were hoping to have everything back to normal by the second day, but we’re not quite there yet although we’ve re-enabled logins and new signups.

There are still a few photos missing, we know, and we’ll be gathering those up early Wednesday morning. Galleries are working as well although not as smoothly as we’d want so we’ll be looking into that too.

To fill everybody in a little more, we’ve moved to our own dedicated server, managed by us. We were using a hosting service, which meant we were at their mercy whenever they took down the server or tweaked anything that broke some part of our service. This last time they completely took our service offline simply because our site had increased traffic that was taking up more server processes.

We know you’ve come to expect solid, responsive service from us, and we want to provide that service. And you know what they say: “When you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.” So we’re handling our servers ourselves. No more having other people taint our name.

Hello folks, I’m sure a lot of people were surprised when they saw the, um, account warning. Not to worry, we’re not out of business, and, no, your personal accounts aren’t suspended.

Due to a big spike in traffic to our site (a very good thing) our host decided to suspend our account since we were hogging up server processes. Seriously. But this will be our last unexpected “server maintenance” outage. More info VERY SOON! As always, we appreciate all of you sticking with us through our growing pains.
