license numbers

August 20th, 2009

For the real estate agents, we know there was a recent addition to the California real estate laws that required display of license numbers (DRE) on all marketing material, including online listings. Although we usually move a little faster than this, so we apologize for the long delay, we’ve added in a “License Info” field so you can enter in your license number and it will be displayed along with the rest of your contact info.

You can find the License Info field on your My Account page. Simply add in whatever you want to display at your license line, for example “DRE Lic#123456″, and that will show up with your contact info on all your postlets, including the HTML we provide for craigslist. We’ve left it free-form so you can enter it any way you like, for example as “License: 123456″ or “DRE#123456″, etc.

Trulia partnership: PRO Bundle

July 13th, 2009

We are excited to announce that Postlets has teamed up with Trulia to offer a bundled promotion that combines Trulia Pro with Postlets PRO. We call it, naturally, the PRO Bundle.

Here’s how it works in a nutshell:

  1. Sign up for a Trulia Pro subscription
  2. We give you a ton of Postlets PRO credits for free

The number of credits you get depends on which Trulia Pro subscription you choose:

  • Monthly: Get 5 free Postlets PRO credits (a $40 value)
  • Annual: Get 25 free Postlets PRO credits (a $150 value)

Just click on the big orange button on our offer page and enter the promotion code provided — the credits will automatically show up in your Postlets account upon confirmation!

Note: Trulia Pro sign ups need to originate from our offer page and include the promo code to be eligible for the promotional offer.

introducing Postlets PRO

June 14th, 2009

We’re pleased to announce the release of Postlets PRO, our new and improved showcase website product. PRO is similar to PLUS, which it replaces, but includes these enhancements:

  • Updated template. We refreshed the multi-page template to give it a cleaner, more modern look.
  • Slideshow viewer. We licensed the best Flash slideshow viewer we could find to show off your large format photos.
  • Exclusive themes. Our designers created 10 brand new themes just for PRO.
  • Schools map. We’ve partnered with GreatSchools to provide a map of local schools along with other useful info on local schools.
  • Your branding. Your company logo will now show up at the bottom of every page.
  • MLS-compliant version. You will also have the option of using an unbranded version as a virtual tour with your MLS.
  • Please see the Postlets PRO product page for a list of all the features and benefits PRO has to offer. We hope you like it, but as always, we welcome any feedback and suggestions.

    Thanks for your continuing support,

    The Postlets team

two million and a quarter million

    May 2nd, 2009

Two recent milestone numbers. Well, not completely recent. We passed our two millionth postlet mark a while ago. But we did recently count our 250,000th postlet user.

Thanks for all the encouraging words and spreading the word over the years. It’s been pretty hard trying to handle everything and also have time for development, but we’ll keep on trucking, and hopefully we’ll have a service that most people will find useful. :)

    lots going on

    April 29th, 2009

Boy, I can’t believe it’s been almost two months since we posted something to the blog. We’ve been busy handling little requests here and there, tweaking some things, and overall trying to keep things going.

Not sure if anybody noticed we had to do some site maintenance a few weeks ago. Yep, site traffic again outpaced server performance so we upgraded to even larger and faster servers. Whew, those are always tiring!

We’re hoping to roll out some new stuff in the next month or so, so expect some cool changes and updates.

myspace, linkedin, twitter and friendfeed too!

    February 5th, 2009

We recently added the ability to share your postlets on Facebook with just a couple of clicks. Well, we decided to keep going and added similar functionality for four more of the top social media sites: MySpace, LinkedIn, Twitter and FriendFeed.

Just click on one of the links below your postlet URL in the Links and Code section, log in to the service (you’ll have to sign up if you don’t already have an account), and the rest should be (we hope) straightforward.

As always, we appreciate any feedback about this or other features you think we should build. We’ll also continue to evaluate other social networks, microblogging and bookmarking services, so if you have some favorites that you think we should consider, send them on.

Note: Please make sure you share links only within your network and where appropriate. Posting links to LinkedIn groups can result in removal from the group.

    facebook integration

    January 31st, 2009

We’ve made sharing your postlet on Facebook even easier. You will now see a link that says “Share link on Facebook” right under your postlet URL in the Links and Code section. Just click on it, log in to Facebook (if not already), and choose whether you want to post it to your profile page or send a message to individual friends.

That’s it. A link to your postlet, along with the address, description and thumbnail image, will show up on your Wall and in your friends’ News Feeds (or sent to your friends’ Inbox if you choose that option). Of course the manual approach mentioned in the previous post works too, but we thought this would make things even simpler.
